Meddies Prepare for Busy End of Year
After coming off a very busy, exciting, and successful spring break, the Meddies are gearing up for what will surely be a busier, more exciting, and hopefully very successful end to the 2004-2005 year.
The Meddies will have close to a dozen more performances this semester, featuring a number of performances at Colleges and Universities in New England. The first weekend in April will feature a demonstration of the Meddies' support for women's colleges, as they travel to Massachusetts to perform at Mt. Holyoke College with the storied Mt. Holyoke V-8s, followed by a trifecta of performances at nearby Smith College. Two weeks later, the guys will be heading down to the same area to perform at the University of Massachusetts with the Vocal Suspects, a really great co-ed group, at their Acapellooza show.
In addition to the concerts featuring higher education, the Meddies will be performing around the Maine educational community. The New England Educational Opportunity Association, an organization affiliated with programs like Upward Bound, will be celebrating its fortieth anniversary, and the Meddies will go to their anniversary conference in Portland to show our appreciation for the great work they do. Additionally, the Meddies will be performing at at least two schools, the Waynflete School in Portland and a primary school in Freeport. It has always been part of the Meddies' mission to spread the mission of fun through song in schools, and this year will provide the Meddies with ample opportunities to do so.
Finally, the Meddies will have two performances on campus to close out the year. The first will be alongside a visiting group in the Bowdoin Chapel on April 15th. The latter will be the Meddies' traditional end-of-the-year concert, which will also be in the Chapel the evening of May 13th.
During this time, the Meddies will also be hard at work on their next CD, which, to complement their recent release focusing on the classic elements in the repertoire, will feature the more pop-oriented sounds of the recent Meddies.
